2024 MTV VMAs: Katy Perry Makes Coy Reference to Orlando Bloom Sex Life While Accepting Vanguard Award

Katy Perry is living a teenage dream—especially with Orlando Bloom.
The "California Gurls" singer was a vision as she accepted the Video Vanguard Award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards Sept. 11—hosted this year by Megan Thee Stallion—and after being presented the honor by her fiancé, Katy made a sly reference to the duo's sex life.
"Thank you to Orlando," she said from the stage, "for keeping me grounded, celebrated and doing the dishes."
It appeared to be a reference to Katy's sex confession last week, when she revealed she rewards the Lord of the Rings actor as a way to ensure he takes care of the housework.
"If I come downstairs and the kitchen is clean, and you've done it all," Katy told Alex Cooper on the Sept. 4 episode of Call Her Daddy, "and you've done all the dishes, and you've closed all the pantry doors, you better be ready to get your d--k sucked."
Elsewhere in her acceptance speech, the 39-year-old also made sure to give a special shoutout to the couple's 4-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, saying, "For my Daisy, the only flowers I’ll ever need."
Prior to her speech, Katy treated fans to a performance of some of her biggest hits, including classics "I Kissed A Girl," "Hot N Cold," "Teenage Dream," and "Firework," and revealed she did all while being "on the first day of my period."
As for Orlando, the 47-year-old couldn't but gush over Katy, saying that while the world feel in love with Katy Perry, "I fell in love with her as Katherine Hudson."
He added, "I know her as a mother, as a partner, who brings that same sense of love and joy to our family."
Katy's Video Vanguard Award is her sixth Moon Person, as she took home three statues in 2011: Video of the Year for "Firework," and Best Collaboration and Best Special Effects for "E.T.," which she shared with Kanye West.
She picked up another Moon Person in 2012 for Best Art Direction for "Wide Awake," and one in 2014 for Best Female Video for "Dark Horse."
And since she's had such a prolific career, it only made sense to MTV that they honor her with the Vanguard Award.
"Katy is a musical powerhouse and true pop culture icon," Paramount exec Bruce Gillmer said in a statement. "With her game-changing creative vision, she has become a global phenomenon and taken over the world's biggest stages."
And with over 115 billion streams, 70 million worldwide album sales and over 2 billion video views, Katy is certainly a powerhouse. During her career, she has also earned seven Diamond-certified titles for her singles.
